Elspeth welcomes replacement ferry service for Rosyth

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 19th Sep 2008

Elspeth has welcomed the announcement that a replacement operator has been found for the Rosyth - Zebrugge route, which Superfast ferries recently announced they would stop running.

She said:

"With high fuel prices and the need to combat climate change it is really important that this route remains open. And, pf course, Rosyth - Zebrugge provides a sensible route to Northern Europe for freight from Ireland.

From hereon it is essential that we continue to look for ways to strengthen transport links between Scotland and the rest of Europe".
