Lib Dems welcome new ferry operator to Rosyth

10.26.16am BST (GMT +0100) Fri 19th Sep 2008

Alison McInnes, Liberal Democrat Transport spokesperson has welcomed the announcement that Norfolkline will take on the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry service.

The original operators, Superfast, announced that they were pulling out of Rosyth in May this year. The last Superfast ferry left Rosyth at the weekend.

Commenting, Mrs McInnes said:

“I am pleased that Norfolkline, an operator with an excellent pedigree, has agreed to take on the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry line.

“I am, however, disappointed that there will be a gap in service until the spring. This will make it harder to attract freight users back onto the route, as they will be forced to find alternative routes until the new service begins. The Transport Minister must outline what action the Government will take to encourage industry back onto the new service when it begins.”
