Campbell comments on RAF Leuchars Tornado reduction

Commenting on the news that the RAF are reducing the Tornado F3 force at Leuchars ahead of the introduction of the Typhoon Eurofighter, North East Fife MP Sir Menzies Campbell said: “These reports are somewhat surprising and have not been preceded with any advance warning to myself. The important thing is the continuing public commitment to three squadrons of Eurofighter at Leuchars which will ensure the future of the base.

“It may well be that in the run up to the deployment of the new aircraft an opportunity is being taken to try and reduce the pressure on the already overstretched MOD budget.”
