Diageo job losses a massive blow to Scottish economy - Scott

10.07.34am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 10th Sep 2009

Commenting on the announcement that Diageo has rejected a Government-backed alternative to their restructuring plans and that up to 900 jobs will go, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Tavish Scott MSP said:

“These 900 job losses are a massive blow to the Scottish economy, but this will be catastrophic news for the workers at Diageo’s Kilmarnock and Glasgow plants.

“There’s no point in a political blame game, because that won’t bring one job back.

“Everyone needs to pull together to help those who have lost their job today get back into work as quickly as possible.”
